Cookies and Local Storage
Summary
By default this site sets no cookies of its own. It uses your browser’s local storage for features you choose to use, such as saving a game. The current status box at the top of this page shows whether any advertising or analytics technology is active right now.
Local storage we use
Local storage is a small data area inside your own browser. Unlike cookies, it is not sent to a server with each page request.
| Key | Type | Set when | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
gp:saved:v1 | Local storage | You press Save | Remembers saved games and prompt packs |
gp:night:v1 | Local storage | You add a game to My Night | Remembers your plan and your notes |
gp:prefs:v1 | Local storage | You change a preference | Remembers large text, paper size and timer sound |
gp:intro | Session storage | You visit the home page | Avoids replaying the opening animation in the same tab |
These items are “strictly necessary” for the features you asked for, contain no identifier, and are never read by us or by anyone else. Nothing is stored until you use the relevant feature, apart from the intro flag.
Cookies from our hosting provider
Our hosting and security provider, Cloudflare, may set a small number of strictly necessary cookies in order to deliver the site reliably and to distinguish people from automated traffic. These are not used for advertising.
Advertising and analytics cookies
When advertising and analytics are off — see the status box — no advertising or analytics cookies are set and no related scripts are loaded.
When they are on:
- Google AdSense and its partners may set cookies or use similar identifiers to deliver, limit and measure advertisements, and to personalise them where you have agreed.
- Google Analytics, if enabled, may set cookies to distinguish visits. We record only coarse, anonymous events.
- In regions where consent is required, nothing of this kind is stored until you have made a choice in the consent message, which is provided by a Google-certified consent management platform.
Your privacy choices
- The “Privacy choices” link in the footer of every page reopens the consent message whenever a consent platform is active, so that you can change or withdraw your choice. When no advertising or analytics is active, there is nothing to choose and the link simply brings you here.
- Clear saved data with the button on the My Night page. It removes your saved items and plan, and offers an undo for a few seconds.
- Browser controls. You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. The site continues to work; saved items will simply last only for the current visit.
- Industry opt-outs. You can manage personalised advertising from Google at myadcenter.google.com.
